Two broken tractors bolted together and powered by a combine engine

Build story

I built this tractor to use for hay production on my family's horse farm. It started out as a 1968 Oliver 1850 gasoline model.

The original Oliver engine was worn out and consumed a lot of fuel. I got the idea to swap engines when I found a salvaged White 2-85 on an online auction.

I bolted the front frame and engine from the White on the the Oliver rear-end and used the sheet metal from the Oliver. Drilling and taping the bolt holes for the Oliver grill was the only modification that was needed on the White frame.

The original fuel tanks would not fit so I used an old beer cask that fit beautifully. I plumbed it in along with the axillary saddle tank from the White tractor.

I ran the White 2-85 engine setup for a few years until the engine spun a main bearing and destroyed the block. I then acquired a Perkins 6.372 from a massey ferguson combine.
With parts from of the White 2-85 engine and manifolds from an Oliver 1850 diesel I was able to bolt in the engine from the massey ferguson combine.
