1. Gas powered hydraulic pump driving the air seeder fan. I used an 40hp motor to dive a hydraulic gear pump that drives the stock hydraulic fan motor. The pump is 110% flow rate of the fan motor, this allows the gas engine to run at a lower RPM and save on fuel. I built the motor to pump transition out of a piece of tube and 1/8" plate. it was difficult to make the two flanges parallel. The hydraulic fluid passes through a needle valve bypass that can be opened when starting the motor and closed slowly to run the fan.

2. Hydraulic cooler added to the fan inlet to cool the oil and warm the air into the fan. the warm air kits are big $ and I did it for cheap. I build the transition between the fan and cooler from 1/8" plate. I drilled hole in the transition to minimize the air restriction from the cooler. These can be taped over if there is not enough cooling and to keep water and fertilizer out when loading the tank, as seen in the pictures.

Mistakes

I used a 25 Gallon reservoir. With the size of cooler, I could of used a 10 Gallon. This would save on the amount of oil required.

When I installed all the connections to the tank, I missed installing a valve and plug in the tank drain. After 3 years it still has the plastic shipping plug.

Build story

I purchased a used worn out mid-early 90’s Eeze-On 40 ft. air seeder 8 years ago. Seed tank metering system was antiquated and was not accurate. I tried the best to fix it and make it work for 4 years. Until I saw this Flexicoil 1330 tank with a hydraulic driven fan. This was late 90’s technology, a big step forward. Unfortunately, I only have a 210 hp John Deere 8440. The HP was maxed out just to pull the 40 ft. seeder and would not have the horsepower or hydraulic flow to drive the fan. I had a 40 hp gas engine on the old air cart and decided to Get-R-Dun and drive the fan with the gas engine. I used a marine fuel tank that is mounted in from of the hydraulic tank. I have used this for the past 3 years and it works great.
