Build story

Being a HD tech, specializing in diesel engines, I always wanted to have a nice classic with a diesel. One day I came across this 51 on kijiji, the owner just wanted to get rid of it or was sending it to scrap, seeing the condition of the shell, I couldn#039;t let that happen. Once I started stripping it though, the rot was way worst than I initially expected but kept working at it slowly. I initially wanted to put in a 6BT , but while looking for one, I stumbled across a wrecked 2006 Duramax 4x4 on a salvage site and got it for a dime. With the floor rotted out of the 51, I decided to cut out the floor of the Duramax, take the cab and box off, cut the frame, then line up and drop the shell of the 51 onto the floor, dropping it 3 inches lower to hide the frame rails. Welded up the floor to the body and my dream car was finally starting to the shape. Flash forward 2 years and she should be ready for a test drive this spring. All designing, fabricating, welding, wiring, tuning done by myself. More pics and videos on my instagram BustedCanuk.
