Build story

I love modified cars and sleepers, plus I have a family so I wanted to build an car that I’d actually use all the time. This turned out to be quite difficult as modifying a car that was also a nice place to be on a long trip is quite difficult! I like old Mercs, love old diesels and wanted something different (I built this car in 2016 - refining since) so produced this. As I said I built this myself on my drive in a tent as my garage is too small to lift a car up in. In true ’man maths’ style I built up the engine and transmission before id found the car to put it into...
We use the car in the summer for road trips and visiting friends around the country, then every so often I’ll take it to 1/2mile or 1 mile top speed events and a spot of drag racing. Its not brilliant over the 1/4 due to the skinny tyres, however over the longer stuff its a bit of a weapon. No one takes ANY notice of it, in fact the last event I went to I got re directed to the spectators car park twice - the bemused look |I get when I explain that I’m competing in this 31 year old noisy diesel is amusing. After the first run the cover is blown and the questions come flooding in. Performance wise its similar to a lightly modified R35, which is amazing as she is old, diesel, 2WD, manual etc and devoid of any launch aids. Enjoy!
