Build story

This car was bought 100% on emotion… And even though I have found numerous things wrong with it that I was not aware of, I would buy it again!! We all have that we just have to have. For me, this was it. Not for the reason you may think though, my grandfather had the exact same car when I was a kid. He bought it in1981ish and drove it until he passed away in 1985. I loved the car from the second I saw it. It was red, with a white vinyl top and a red interior, except for those bright white seats. It was the same drivetrain as mine, so it hardly got out of its own way, but it made up for that with being the sexiest thing on the road. I was very close to him and he lived with us for the last year of his life. He would take me everywhere in that car and I always told him how cool it was. He would always tell me that it would be mine when he passed away, I just never dreamt that the day would come so soon. Sep 5th, 1985 he passed away and I was told that the car was left to me. I was only 8 at the time, so my mom would drive the car. Eventually it was almost like her daily driver. My mom had some work done on the car in 1989 and thanks to some shady maintenance, the front left wheel came of the car and it was totaled. I searched for this car since that day. It was a rare optioned car, so it wasn’t easy to find. 30 years later, I found this car and even this car is not the exact car, but it will be. My ’77 started life as a red Grand LeMans with a white interior and a white top. It will be “transformed” into a red LeMans Sport Coupe with a white top, red interior and those bright white seats just like my grandfather had.
