Bought a 1973 Rust free 240Z Auto trans car in 1997. Then a wrecked 280ZXT donor car with 235,000 miles and a T5 transmission. Rebuilt the Turbo engine, converted the car to stick by adding the clutch pedal and put everything in the 240Z. Upgraded the Turbo to a T3/T4 and added an external waste-gate. Complete 3 inch intake and exhaust system with inter-cooler. Enlarged throttle body and intake manifold to 60 MM. Raised boost from 7 PSI to 14 PSI. 300 H.P. at the wheels. Did a complete refresh of the interior, new paint with Aero bumpers, complete suspension upgrade, upgraded front brakes to 1990 Toyota truck Ventilated disk and calipers and custom spacer. Rear disk conversion from a 1980 Maxima station wagon and 15/16" master cylinder. Posi Differential from a 1989 Turbo 300ZX. Swastica wheels from the donor car. Ecu from a 1989 Turbo V6 wired onto the straight six. Signed by Mr. K at a San Diego Z-Car club meeting. Project took 8 years. Spent Saturdays for many years going thru junkyards in San Diego. Put 30,000 miles on it in that time. $13,000 invested. Sold it for $12,500 after getting it appraised for $13K. My one and only conversion. Now retired. At 74 years old, i'm done.
Build story
I was working full time in San Diego, married , raising three kids. With San Diego weather, I was able to work on it year round. This was done before smart phones, Hi Res video, etc. I am now retired in Southern Oregon. Really enjoy your channel. God you work hard.\r
