Alright this is going to be a long one, but I will try my best to summarize it. This is my 1986 Toyota Pickup Xtra-cab long bed 4wd. What makes this truck special is for one it is my first car and second, in 1986 toyota never offered the xtra-cab long bed as a 4wd, they were 2wd work trucks only. That is what this truck started as. I bought it is a rusty 348,000 mile 2wd truck with many oil leaks and a bad transmission, as it sits today there is not much left of the original truck. In 1996 the truck was totaled, something crushed the roof and it was poorly repaired so it got its cab swapped with a donor cab from a 85 pickup. I kept the interior from the 85 since it only had 130k miles on it and the interior was in great shape also the truck that donated the cab was parked for 20 years with a bad engine and bad frame so it missed out on 20 years of use. Now onto the drivetrain. The truck no longer has the original carbureted 22r it now has a fuel injected 22re from a 1988 4wd standard cab short bed. Now how I was able to pull off this 2wd-->4wd conversion was I actually cut the front off of the 2wd frame and the front off of the rotted 4wd frame and I welded the 4wd front onto my 2wd frame. I then swapped in the 4wd rear axle. I still need to source a rear driveshaft but apart from that the conversion is done. Now at the moment the truck is 2 different shades of red and 1 shade of gray. the plan is to finish painting it gray so it will match my 2010 tacoma. When I got the cab I completely stripped it so I could do a complete color change.
