I got the Jeep May 2014 and I didn't do too much with it until 2016 when I put a 4" lift and 33's on it. Fast forward to the fall of 2017 and the little 4 banger with 260k on the clock decided it just wanted to burn oil. I started looking at doing a 4.0 swap but a friend had found a cheap AMC 304,T-18, Dana 20 combo so I decided to go the route of a V8 swap. Well a Dana 20 is a passenger drop transfer case and so I needed a new front axle! I ended up buying a 1980 chevy 3/4 ton and put those axles under my Jeep. In 2019 I had to take 9 months off and go on rotation with the Army to Eastern Europe so I had a shop finish up the build. They talked me into ditching the 10 bolt front axle and going with a King Pin Dana 60 with a Spartan Locker. I got back from Europe a little over 2 years from when I started the build on Maverick. There were a few small things to finish to get it on the road but my friends and I got it finished and on the road finally. March 2020 comes around and I'm getting ready to move to Germany for a 3 year tour. I've got my jeep packed up to go see my family and the motor kicks a rod through the block, bummer! Well the beerflu stops all travel and I have to stay in Kansas, so time to get Maverick running again! I found an AMC 304 on marketplace with a 4bbl intake and I had my Dad pick it up for me and he was able to drive from Arkansas to Kansas and drop it off for me. It took about 5 days or so for my friends and I to get the old motor out and the new one in. Now it runs awesome and I have fallen in love with my Jeep all over again.\r
