2020 Valuation Report\r
\r
Even the more mundane of these cars have a dedicated following among Japanese Classic enthusiasts and the values of the lesser appreciated models is now starting to climb following a few years where anything other than an R32 struggled to make much market impact. Much of this can be put down to the influence of the “Fast and the Furious” movie franchise but also in some respects, to the fact that these cars are coming up to 25 years old which means that they can be legally imported into the US.\r
The subject car is very tidy – not surprising given that the collector/owner takes great pride in the presentation of all his cars. The body displays perfectly showing no imperfections at all and the Dark Grey metallic paint work appears to be in excellent condition. All the panels line up correctly and the shut lines and gaps are all acceptable. There is minimal badging and brightwork on a car such as this but what there is all looks correct and in perfect condition. The usual GTR enhancements are apparent and these include the large rear wing with its distinctive end plates along with the deep front splitter/spoiler. The car appears to have a good stance, and this is largely the result of the OEM SK35 17” double spoke alloys that are fitted. The owner’s handbook and other documentation remains with the car.\r
\r
The interior appears to be still fresh and with no visible signs of wear and tear or damage of any kind. The front seats have the deep bolsters peculiar to this model, and they appear free of damage and any sign of excessive wear, as do the carpets, headlining and door cards.\r
\r
The dash is clean and functional, and all the factory-correct gauges are said to function as they should. The interior as supplied was quite basic, but it does provide the creature comforts lacking in the more basic versions such as the N spec cars. The stock dash appears excellent with clear instrumentation (black faced dials) and the dash top looks blemish-free. Several auxiliary items have been added. The factory-correct HICAS steering wheel looks tidy and unmarked.\r
\r
Mechanically, the car is said to perform as one would expect from a car of this pedigree and all mechanical operations are all functioning as they should. The twin turbo RB26DETT engine is a classic of its kind and displays well in the very tidy engine bay. The strong Nissan 5 x speed manual transmission unit is fitted to these cars.\r
\r
Overall, the car appears a rust-free and well-maintained example of this factory high-performance sports coupe that looks to have benefitted from the attentions of a fastidious owner.\r
There has been a surge in value in recent years due to cars 25 years plus being able to be imported into the USA. As a result of this, many JDM cars are now being vigorously sought out by American collectors and dealers thus fueling the price climbs for this model.
