Build story

I aquired this truck with a non running wimpy 6.2 detroit diesel that overtime without the starter brace installed cracked the block. I Jb welded the bolt holes and it held long enough to get safety done. I knew this drivetrain wasnt staying in for long as it was gutless turning 35" boggers 4:10 gears thru a turbo 400 tranny. I recently parked my 2002 silverado 5.3 truck that needed lots of work to keep it on the road. I thought I was gonna 5.3 swap until I went to do maintenance on my ice shack. I met an older hyper gentleman that blattenly asked if we knew anyone looking for a 91 dodge diesel. Truck was shot but motor runs. My liquid courage obviously said I'll take it. Long story short for $800 he delivered the truck that monday after the weekend. Dodge d250 with a blown transmission 1 working brake caliper. Tuck tape holding rain out of the cab I knew this is the route I'm going. So with extensive research on YouTube and forums this swap has been done many times and many ways. I started ordering parts and stripping both vehicles getting them ready. I found a craigslist ad that sold me nv4500/ np241/ pedals/ hydraulics/ shifter, basically everything I needed for for the swap. I think with shipping that was $1400. I locally found a 14 bolt full floater for $250. With that tcase its driver side drop for 4wd. To make it work research told me that 77-79 ford dana 60 shared the same spring perch as my chevy, it had a high pinion driver pumpkin. I had my wanted kijiji ad answered by a guy in southern ontario that hauled the exotic animals for our yearly fair. He delivered the diff right to my driveway. So I freshened both diffs, by some miracle they both were 4:10. I installed a detroit locker in the 14 bolt so it doesnt get stuck easily. For a period of time it seemed I had no time for this project and I had all these parts cluttering up the garage. That was until my company and union had a labour dispute and I was on strike. Now I had the time to really accelerate this project. One thing led to another and it was almost driveable. I had to shorten rear driveshaft since this drivetrain was longer then old gm drivetrain. I cut the front driveshaft in half machined a sleeve to bridge the two to make it work. Now that I have it driveable and reliable now I'm working on the fun stuff. Have the fuel pin and 3200 spring to go in, stereo needs to be hooked up, some solid tow points for the front. I still have to cut off all the ford shock mounts on the diff to install shocks. Seems like theres always a growing list of things to do to make it better, but it goes down the hwy super smooth and tight. The stereo is there but sound from ripping gears is really all I need. GPS speedometer to keep myself out of any trouble. I'm sure I'm missing out lots of details without walking around it but it was a joy to do. Was well worth the time. Would do it all over again. It's a non bias truck with chevy/dodge/and ford parts to make it work
