Build story
I bought this car when I was 14 years old, (early 2005) it was all original, except the GS bonnet. Had the perfect vinyl roof, OK garage re spray, mint interior, original motor and gearbox. Even came with spare keys and owners manual.\r
\r
Huge mad max fan so was hoping to paint it black but the gold and the roof grew on me. Glad I didn’t, I think there is less than 10 continental roofed hardtops remaining in Australia \r
\r
Got my licence at 16, engine dropped compression on 2 cylinders so bought a cheap replacement 6 with a manual gearbox and slotted it right in to keep it on the road. (Don’t worry the Matching numbers engine is in the shed)\r
\r
Fitted bonnet pins to stop it shaking\r
Fitted GT dash because they are cool and show tacho and oil pressure\r
Fitted GT fuel cap because they look amazing and they were the only lockable caps\r
Fitted GS grill because it looks cool and better at night\r
Fitted supermite wheels because I was getting married and I needed it to look good for my wedding day (didn’t tell the wife I slotted that into the wedding budget)\r
\r
Bought a 250 2v to fit into it, but two kids later that’s still not done. Want to fit that with a triple Webber setup and do a few local car shows\r
\r
Old girl needs a bit of love, minor rust issues, por paint and the usual old age spots are getting worse, plan one day is to restore the car and have the original motor and box back in. But for now I can drive it, keep it out on the road and enjoy it with my two boys.
