Build story

I originally purchased the car in St Louis with a failed engine (IMS failure) and proceeded to buy another stock engine and swap it out. I drove the car this way for about a year in its stock configuration. The swap business all started after I took my car to a HPDE with the Porsche Club of America at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. The stock 2.7L was fun and sounded great at full tilt, but I kept having oil ingestion issues around as I pushed the car harder. I could have fixed these issues for several thousand dollars (aka the Porsche tax) or I could swap the engine to one with more power and torque with the added benefit of buying replacement engines for a few hundred dollars versus a few thousand. I found an engine out of Chicago for $350 shipped to me. It came out of a car that had an engine fire so, needless to say, all of the plastics and wiring were burnt/melted. I decided to freshen up the top end of the engine with all new seals and cylinder head gaskets and then proceeded to raise the engine into the bay and building the mounts for the front of the engine. \r
The transmission mounts were just the stock Porsche mounts that I modified since the new engine/transmission combo would be 2 to 2.5 inches lower than stock in order to satisfy my 1 requirement of not cutting on the body of the car. The rest was all ancillary things like rerouting shifter cables, wiring, fueling, and making new coolant lines to match the factory Porsche locations on the body. The build is far from over. I have plans to install a power steering assembly from a Volvo at some point. My main obsession now is possibly installing an Audi RS6 engine with a Cayman 6 speed transmission. The main difference between the RS6 engine and my S8 engine is the RS6 having a lower compression ratio, twin turbskies, and 450 bone stock BHP out of the box.\r
