Build story
Ever since I was able to work a dream of mine was to have a project car from the 60’s. It all started when I got a job at the local Baseball park when the idea came to me to start saving for a project car. It wasn't long before I had gotten a different job at a dealership where then I officially started saving more money over the summer and school months. It then came to ask my parents if I would be able to get a project car. We went over the logistics of where we would put it, there I sat making a call to my grandma to see if I would be able to keep it over there and work on it, with a little persuasion she said yes. Now I was on a hunt for an affordable project car looking from A to Z on Craigslist ads turned up many results but nothing that sparked my interest. I then asked my dad about his friend that owns an auto body shop. Maybe he might have a project that he lost interest in but that was a no. A few weeks later my dad's friend calls with a car that an older retired police officer had sitting in his garage untouched for 7 years. The older gentleman had lost interest in a 1968 Corvette international blue with the 327/350hp matching engine car. I said that could be the one, not knowing if the guy was going to sell it. We received a call two weeks later from him asking if we were still interested in it. That day was when I became the new owner of a 1968 Corvette. It has always been my dream to have one but I didn't think I would in highschool. Over the summer months of working at the dealership many things have been done. This includes the rebuilding of the engine from top to bottom in which it had taken a whole year to complete the engine with the parts to make it a good reliable engine to last. The engine started out as a 327 and was bored and honed, aligned mains with hone, weighted and polished crank with hypereutectic keith black racing pistons. The car came originally with double hump heads but were in rough shape so as a high school graduation present my parents bought a pair of E street series Edelbrock heads for the car. Ever since the engine has been put back in the car after sitting for a year all dismantled, the car hasn't moved. Which makes the reason to join/submit all that much better. I was fortunate to have the friends and family that helped me take the transmission/engine out and to put it back together. My plans are to get a paint job in the original color of International blue and to enjoy in local car shows.
