Build story
This is my 1984 Chevy K30. Drive train is the 6.2L diesel, th400, np205, dana 60 front and 14 bolt floater rear. Bought the pickup in early 2008 with only 108k on the clock. Was my daily through jr and sr years of high school and 2 years of college/tech school. Since it was in such great shape I made sure to keep it that way. First modification I made was to make my own 4" single exhaust and installed a k&n air filter. Biggest trouble I've ever had with it was a failed head gasket while hauling cattle. Thats where the modifications started when I went back together with the ARP studs and wide-open hummer intake manifold. Always wanted to turbocharge the old 6.2 and recently stumbled across a partial ATS turbo kit for it. Had the hx35w turbo already, just needed a manifold for the engine and the nice thing about the ATS version is it clears the a/c box on the firewall. Back in college days I wanted to improve the looks of the pickup. Thats when I installed the leveled suspension and 2500hd wheels wrapped with 33" fierce attitude mt tires. Had a pinion bearing failure in college. Repaired that by rebuilding the rear end with good used gears and new bearings. The pickup is mostly factory original inside and out. Has all the original drivetrain except for the rear axle gears and bearings. Still wears the original paint on original gm steel. It has the original dash pad, carpet and bench seat inside. The pickup currently has 157k on the clock and slowly climbing. The pickup is not let out in the snow, rain or any other inclement weather. My plan is to keep it in it current mostly original condition and just enjoy owning it. Not many K30s were kept nice because they were built to work. This one was treated nice from the beginning and will continue to be kept nice.
