The entire truck has been stripped of its glass, most plastic and interior, chopped 2 feet in the length, and I welded on a bunch of rusty crap everywhere. The exhaust has been “customized” and I created a place for a top gunner to stand.

Build story

This truck, affectionately names “Septic Tank” was built specifically for Wasteland Weekend. I trailered it the 2500 miles from Alabama to California’s Mojave Desert in California in September of 2019. I made it to be a primitive post-apocalyptic war rig, inspired heavily by both Mad Max and the Orks of Warhammer 40k, complete with battle armor and a top-mounted gun. Every single bit of rusty metal, cloth, and rubber on this vehicle was salvaged from my 6-acre property, someone’s trash, or the local scrap yard. The doors are made from the skins of the truck bed, the gunner’s turret is made from an old barrel I found in the woods, and the top gun itself is made from an old industrial drill that my wife’s job threw away. I removed everything that I could (fenders, hood, random metal) to throw into a huge bonfire, which is my favorite weathering/rusting technique. Surprisingly, everything (that matters) still works on it: the 4wd, the 5-speed transmission, the brakes, and the little 2.4L Nissan engine still fires right up every time. When this truck isn’t scaring locals at my area car meets, it’s working hard as a farm truck on my property.\r
