Build story

I bought this car as rolling shell in 1983. I spent 2 years doing a body off the floor pan restoration completing it in July 1985. I dechromed the body bought all new steel fenders from the local Volkswagen dealer. I welded in adjustable lowering blocks in the front beam to adjust the ride height. I did all of the body work and pained the interior steel and sent it to the dealer to do the final sanding and paint the exterior. It was reassembled with new bumpers tinted windshield and stock interior. Wheels are 15x5.5”ATS made in Germany. At that time it had a small 1641cc engine that was mostly stock. In 1987 I installed an 1835cc engine that was the platform for the current power plant. Over the next few years I added the disc brakes on the front and mostly just did maintenance. \r
In 1993 started work on the second major rework of the car. I gutted the 1st wiring harness and redid it much cleaner and painted all of the colour change parts of the car Ford Ranger Lapis Poly. The next winter I took the body back off the floor pan so it could be blasted and painted to match the car. The underside of the fenders and the inner fenders where match painted as well. The car was repainted as well. I built the new 1835cc engine with bigger cam, better heads, bigger Weber carbs and NOS nitrous oxide. \r
In 2019 it was time for new paint so the car was stripped and prepped for paint. I made a few more subtle changes but it was largely left the way it was. This winter I built a new transmission which works much better and dialed the carbs in to run smoother. Over the years I have made a few ¼ mile passes with it at a best of 14.1 @ 91 mph and 8.80 1/8th mile at 81. Hopefully next winter I will build a 2276cc engine for it and a stronger transmission. In the 35 plus years I have owned this car I have done all of the work on this car myself with the exception of paint on the body, some machining of the engine cases and the port and polish of the heads.
