Main donor car used was a 1981 Toyota Celica - engine, transmission, drive shaft, differential, wiring harness, gauges, wiper and heater motors, and entire front framework from firewall forward including suspension, brakes, steering/steering column, and pedals. I welded and made brackets to install Toyota differential onto Austin leaf springs. A cross-flow radiator from VW Golf; multi-adjustable seats with head restraints and seatbelts from 90's Toyota Camry. Front grill components from several mid-60's Morris Oxfords. Rims were created using centres from a 1980 Celica welded to the barrels from the original Austin to create a wheel that would fit the Toyota hub as well as tuck into the narrow Austin wheel well.
Build story
I stripped the Austin down to the bare body. Then I accurately measured the Austin and Celica to ensure that when welded together, a proper steering geometry would be maintained. I welded, made brackets, did all of the wiring, mechanics, motor rebuild, body work, etc. ... all but sprayed the paint. I modified the front look to reflect the original Pinin Farina design concept. The intent for this car was to create a safe, reliable, comfortable 'almost daily' driver. With the Toyota handling, this car is an absolute thrill to drive! This car is for the lovechild of Mr. Bean and Steve McQueen ;)
