So far, manual choke conversion, 15x8 Mickey Thompson wheels, and some paint work. The rest is mostly maintenance related.

Build story

I couldn't pass up this car for the price. Great patina, solid frame AND floors. I only had to patch in one area in the rear corner of the trunk, and patch the rear wheel wells. This is a drive as is cruiser, so I don't have to be picky with this one; scrape out and clean up the loose rust, spray on some rust converter, then a coat of rustoleum rusty metal primer in the trunk. The wheel wells got the sheet metal and pop rivets treatment with a coat of rusty metal primer, seam sealer, and flex seal to finish er off. ? The carpet was nasty, so that all came out and got a coat of royal blue ( Ford blue )rustoleum. The trim on the sides was missing/broken, so I decided to take it all off, and painted the A and C pillar satin black where it was off white originally. The badges are painted satin black, and they'll go back on after I scrub the body down with steel wool and wipe er down with linseed oil. The bumpers and grill are going to be black as well. The engine is a 292 Y block. It was full of sludge and grime, so the oil pan and valve covers got cleaned and repainted with Ford classic blue, the oil pump screen was flushed and cleaned. While the pan was down, the inside walls of the block got hosed down with brake clean, and the rocker shaft area got new valve stem seals then cleaned with gasoline, brushes, and a carb spray rinse. Then I rebuilt the carb, and all new ignition parts. The manual choke allowed me to eliminate the choke heater tube. The hole in the exhaust manifold got tapped and then a bolt and washer plug. The exhaust valve in the manifold is eliminated too. Now it purrs happily. My plans were to have it ready for Power Tour, but looks like this is gonna be a next year goal. It'll definitely be road worthy by then at least. I'm lookin forward to meeting the car guys and gals from Youtube.
