11" drum brake upgrade, dual circuit brake system, 12V conversion with all new harness incl. blinkers and hazard flasher (needed for registration here), 195/80R15, seat belts, shifter knob ;)
Build story
Got the ole jeep from Rialto/CA shipped here to Germany in 2013. Before it sat since 1996. Always loved those flatfender jeeps and looked for a manageable first restoration project for me to work on. Before, I was just doing smaller repairs on my other rig (70 Newport). Took me four years to completely rebuild the jeep in my free time and as you can see things got a little out of hand ;)\r
Never learned as many new things like in those years incl. carb, axle, trans and engine rebuild etc. I had some luck cause the jeep turned out to be in really good, original and complete shape for the age and compared to what you see on CL sometimes. Only minor rust issues and a hit in the side of the tub, slightly bent frame and lots of oily dirt (which conserved the parts beneath pretty well) and the engine pistons, cam, crank and bearings shot. I tried to keep everything original except for the mods stated above, closed all unnecessary holes drilled over time and tried not to drill too many holes which weren't there from factory (using adapter plates to compensate different hole patterns here and there - lol - do I sound like a freak btw?). It's got 75% original body sheet metal (hood and floor boards replaced) and 90% original hardware and all the rest.\r
The jeep doesn't have any major problems except the typical minor oil drops here and there and the rear diff grinding a little thanks to my rookie axle rebuild skills. Will fix that some time. There are not a lot of those 2As around here - you only see some MBs on car shows sometimes. It's really a fun drive for sunny weathers - don't have a roof yet - and gets lots of friendly reactions.
