Build story

This project started with a 700 km round trip to inspect and buy the car. Managed to find a car with no real rust and seemed to be good mechanically. I found it to not be so good mechanically once I started pulling it apart.\r

Completely rebuilt the engine. Other than the mild cam fitted, the engine is largely stock. Factory carb was junk so I fitted a slightly bigger one. Replaced the seals and gaskets on the gearbox and fitted a quick shift. Brake booster and master cylinder had to be reconditioned.\r

Previous owner saved me some effort having fitted the extractors and exhaust. He also added to my workload with his terrible attempts at wiring and having fitted the rear axle out of a Mk 1 Escort. Problems to be fixed later.\r

Plans for later are to fit electronic ignition and fuel injection, half cage in the back, LSD, upgraded brakes and adjustable suspension.\r

Car is basically ready for roadworthy and club rego, but this pandemic has thrown that out the window for now. Can't wait to get this car on the road and on the track.
