Build story

Had a bunch of 1.75" roll bar tube, bought the remaining amount from the steel shop. What I didn't have, I used aluminized exhaust pipe. I don't own a tubing bender or notcher, but I can fill a hell of a gap with my welder. Started with a 93 fwd Dodge Colt with a Mitsubishi 1.5L 5spd, which I blame my wife for destroying in the woods in two days. It ran like a champ so my kid and I gutted it, cut the fuel injection harness out of it and began building a tube buggy. \r
\r
Started with the seats/fuel tank which took up the most room, and built the tube chassis around it. Made my own front control arms using school bus seat frame tubing and mazda miata ball joints, which resulted in a full 10" of travel with zero bump steer. For the rear I used 84 Dodge Rampage struts/springs, because I had them.\r
\r
Moved the fwd engine/trans to the rear obviously, and to keep the tie rods from moving i used some wimpy heim joints i had, which later on proved to be inadequate at best. Upgraded after an incident to 5/8". Rear wheels from the junkyard to fit up a set of bias atv 26" tires. Can't run radials on the rear cause it's scary.\r
\r
But with cup/beer holders it seems to entertain any that enter\r

It's a little sketchy to drive on pavement, but minty in the woods. As for brakes.... I only need rear brakes, kind of. I used a full size truck bedliner and a ton of zipties as a full length skid plate. Don't worry about the ballooned gas tank... Happens when it gets welded on
