The Volvo has been V8 swapped with a 1985 Dodge 318LA engine, Weiand mid rise duel plane intake, with a Edelbrock 650 CFM carb. Cam bearings were also offset to boost oil pressure. Also use a Heineken mini keg as a coolant overflow, worst part about that was drinking the beer! Cant stand Heineken! Just like the car!

Build story

Grandfather started the project around the time I was born just as something to do to get away from his wife! After he passed, I was the unlucky sob to end up with this mint machine. Pulled the engine and trans, rebuilt both of them, never had the money for a machine shop, so the engine was built on the nasty side. Made my own engine and transmission mounts, No they are not strong at all, so I had to also chain the engine down on both sides so it doesn't go full throttle when a mount breaks. I plan on going with a midplate engine mount some day. Oh yeah, she still uses V belts, and to get the P/S pump aligned with the crank and waterpump, I had to use a cheeky turn buckle, so I can "Fine Tune" the cant on the P/S pump, and it works like a charm! Upper raid hose had an issue with hitting the hood, so I cut 1 1/2 ft out of it, and spliced in a section on exhaust pipe from my old Harley Davidson Sportster. She aint pretty, and she aint the fastest, But everything on this car was built by me, with less than 1.5k spent on it, and that was almost all into the engine overhaul, and I even reused the crank bearings! Cam bearings are new though so that's mint! Still has the flat top pistons, I didn't really see a need to upgrade those, Has a mild R/V-towing cam, and engine was out of an Ex police car. Also has a Dana 30 rear axle, the Volvo came stock with it. Unfortunately the RF wheel currently doesn't match the other three, Its a funny story, but in short I was shot at, and the bullet went under the car, and through the RF rim...\r

Getting parts for a V8 swapped Volvo is always fun, and confuses the living hell out of the parts guys lol!
