Lots of wires...cleaned up with another ranger power distribution module; re-pinned for my circuits. All stock gauges now working. W terminal added to alternator to run through Dakota Digital DSL 1E for gasser tach output. Speedometer also corrected. Overhead console temp sensors added for intercooler water inlet, intake air and the original ambient air. Pyro, boost, oil temp and pressure. Reverse lights in bumper, both trans switch and dash toggle activated. Trailer wiring with brake controller.

Build story

I needed a reliable daily to make my commute, what better than a (big) little diesel! She hasn’t gotten but a few days off. The truck has come a long way from where it started. Almost everything you can imagine having to replace on an old tired chassis has been done in the past year. I have also gotten as much as I can from junkyards to save where I can.\r
First things first, when I started driving 2hrs a day it became apparent how worn and terrible the ranger seats were. You could say I have a soft spot for them, because I had to use seats from a 2004 Passat. Original ford base was lowered and bolted to the VW base. They are no higher than the stock ranger seats. Seat heater controls have a 3D printed bezel on the dash and will be connected as soon as I find the right seat covers. \r
Ford 8.8 explorer rear end, rebuilt with junkyard parts to create an option not available from the factree, 3.08 LSD. Perfect for a 2wd highway runner in the rust belt. \r
I ran the clapped out H1C as long as possible and when it started leaking oil, I started the long process of the turbo and intercooler upgrade. Buy once, cry once: ispro gauges. I designed and 3D printed the gauge pods to fit exactly where I wanted. \r
All that’s left is to add another water pump and then squeeze some more fuel from the VE for pulling a trailer. Then I will sit back, in my warm seat, listening to the whistles and clacky sounds that every young boy dreams about.
