VH45DE, custom headers with 3” exhaust, engine and transmission mount, oil filter relocation, driveshaft, adapter plate and flywheel spacer to mate it to a 300ZX turbo 5-speed. No bolt ons. Everything is fabbed.

Build story

I bought the non-operational car with various colours of body panels about 10 years ago for $2k. I got the carbed L24 running, but then accidentally froze the block with only water in it. So I bought an Infiniti Q45 for $300, and pulled the engine, cluster, harness and diff from it in 24 hours in my sister’s backyard. And then I sold the scrap metal to the yard and other various bits for over $400. I sourced the 5-speed, and then towed the car with my friends truck into an underground garage in a sketchy part of town. At the time, the engine was sitting on a 2x4 in the engine bay, and the 5-speed in the back. The building management said I wasn’t supposed to work on it down there, and I had no electricity, no cell reception and very little light, but I would fit pieces, make marks, drive 20 minutes home, make cuts, drive back, make more adjustments, drive home, spot weld, drive back etc etc. In a year I had the thing built up, and drove it out under its own power for the maiden voyage down to Hamilton 40 minutes away. It wasn’t registered to me, it had an old expired plate on the back, I had no insurance, no lights, no horn, nothing had been tested, and the doors wouldn’t latch. One body panel flew off on the highway. There’s actually a lot more to the story; someone lit someone else’s car on fire in the basement. I’ve since done some body work on it, and sprayed it with a black primer filler. I’ve got more photos, and can video some of it when I get back in town.
