Build story

The build was first started 5 years ago with an old Volvo Amazon for sale as an abandoned project. I bought it and it was a started engine swap but the owner never finished it. The body was painted with a brush, missing panels, rust in the floors and full of bad repairs. I got the B23 engine and the m47 transmission installed and the car driveable at the beginning of summer 2015. I went to a dragstrip in august just for fun and at the end of the run I lost the oil pressure and destroyed the engine. From there the plan was set and the build process began.\r
So a new engine got built by me and my father in law. We salvaged what we could from the old engine and bought most stuff second hand. The old mechanical injection got replaced by a Megasquirt ECU I bought as a DIY kit and soldered it together myself. I made a new engine harness and replaced most of the cars factory wiring as well.\r
When the engine was finally back in the car and got it started, the car season was over. So the body got stripped down to bare metal, straightened, rust repaired, chrome trim deleted and all missing panels got welded on. I painted the car myself in the driveway in a pop up tent, in a dark matte olive green color. \r
I drove the car summer 2019 and tuned it myself and each drive went better and better until the next weak link in the chain gave up, the rear axle. New axle salvaged from a scrapped Volvo 240 GLT, a 1031 which is Volvos "toughest" factory rearend. This also led to a disc brake conversion as 240’s has this original, and the Amazon came with drum brakes. A universal 4-link kit was bought and adapted to fit, adjustable spring seats welded on and a complete set of adjustable GAZ suspension shock absorbers installed front and back.

Much of the build is documented on my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/limpanvoss/
