With parts from 4 different rare factree bird this ones a real treat! She sports a 350 small block Chevy with 305ho head for that extra compression and a cast iron Saginaw 4 speed that you can shift hard but not too hard because she doesn’t like it that rough. For the budget minded we have summit gauges bought on sale, summit mild cam and a summit aluminum water pump. This factree mint Hoopty was put together for less than $3000.
Build story
Found a shell of the 81 on Facebook market place for $400 with registration (bonus). Started fixing what surprising little holes it had in the floor and searching online for the rest of the parts. It was an auto and a guy couldn’t have that. Found clutch pedals and a 4 speed. Found a small block and rebuilt it. My first project car was a 79 Trans Am and when I was a younger lad had to sell it due to a lost of job. My dad always had second gen fbodies and I’ve always wanted to build one.
