Build story
I needed something that I could get to my pole barn in the winter. As little as 2” of snow makes it difficult to get to the barn in my wheelchair. So I built this trike from scratch. I made it front wheel drive so I could lower the platform and push my wheelchair onto the trike. It has a 1000 watt electric motor. A 12 volt electric actuator raises and lowers the platform. I built the frame out of 2” x 1/8” wall square tubing. The tires and wheels were from my ‘68 Firebird. I used trailer spindles and hubs for the three wheels and one for the triple tree steering. For now I use friction pads applying pressure to the rear tires as brakes.
