5/7 drop, vortec 350
Build story
I bought the truck for $800 out of a field in AL to flip, but fell in love with it (mainly because of the patina!). It was originally a 6cyl truck and I drove it for about a year with that motor. I got a stupid deal on a low mile vortec 350, so I swapped it in. Then I lowered it and while I was at it I went ahead and rebuilt everything on the brakes, steering and suspension. The paint was chalky and faded with the patina when I got it and I thought it looked fine, but a happy accident showed me that a wet sand and clear would make it super cool, so now the patina is preserved with 2 coats of clear over it. There’s still plenty to do on ‘ol Steve but I drive him all the time and love the truck. So far I’ve only got about $3800 in it total and I’ve done every bit of the work myself.
