Build story
Bought it from a friends dad. Had been sitting in a field for approximately 10 years. Battery was from 2002 and had mouse nests behind the seat that was 3 foot by 3 foot... nasty. All of the brakes were locked up, obviously didn't run and was dragged onto the trailer by a Polaris Ranger. When I got it home, I replaced the core support, radiator and every mechanical component. I de-smogged the 6 cylinder and swapped the integrated head that was on it to an older style head and Holley 2300 for more power.
I moved to the body and began cutting all of the rust out. This took the most time and I worked for about a year on this on and off. I epoxy primed it and began bodywork. I sanded this truck 5 times and it was almost perfect. When the time came I set up my own booth and painted it right in my own shop. I final assembled the truck and tagged it.
2 years later and approximately 6 grand later I had a truck. I missed the senior year deadline I had set but oh well.
I drove it a total of 10 thousand miles this summer. Including a trip to New Jersey from Maryland and several Ocean City trips. I daily drove this until the salt came out. I used the truck during my contracting job and customers loved it, pretty cool.
I am currently swapping the truck with the 4.8/nv3500. This truck was a blast as it sat but who doesn't like burnouts and drivability? 3,000 RPM @ 70MPH wasn't cutting it for this guy, not to mention the copious amount of oil from that I-6. All is going well so far and I have completed it in 5 weekends while coming home from college to get it done. Getting the VATS removed 3/13 and she'll be ready to rip.
