Build story

Got the Bronco for free, all I had to do was get it from Utah to Texas. Got it running after sitting for at least 10 years, drove it back to Ft Worth without stopping. Well, I stopped every 50 miles to put oil in, it was leaking really bad. Wanted to do a strait 6 swap, but the parts I wanted to get were all too much $, my budget was $2000 all in, and I managed to get it running, driving, and inspected for $1963 out of pocket! My neighbor had a SBC rebuildable core he didn’t want so for $200 I scored a 4 bolt main .060 over SBC with a performer RPM intake and HEI distributor. I dingelball honed, replaced bearings and gaskets, and shoehorned it in. I had to notch the oil pan to clear the crossmember and had to modify some S10 swap mounts to fit. also had to notch the AC box and a little bit of the firewall and make my own PS pump bracket. I sold the parts I took out to finance the build, and also scoured facebook marketplace looking for cheap parts or swap opportunities. I traded the Bronco transmission/transferase for the 1996 Volvo wheels. I found a 4l60E for $100 (and its working perfectly still!) and the S10 swap headers were $50. Got 2006 Mustang GT mufflers that were taken off in 2006 for $20. I did have to spring for the TCI controller, and I used a carb I had already. The original radiator I used was some unknown piece I got for $35 on marketplace, it worked ok in the winter, but as soon as it got warm, I had overheating issues. I thought it was the Rad so I bought an aluminum rad for a 72 Camaro and modified the core support to make it fit. Turns out that was not the problem, I had a cracked head. I picked up a pair of Summit brand cast iron heads and a cam, and also swapped the HEI for a Summit brand MSD knockoff external coil/controller/dist. I spent under my goal to get it driving, but total for it to be a reliable daily I have about $3000 invested. Its a lot of fun! Now I have to work on the body...
