Build story
This is my 1968 Jeep Jeepster Commando that I got as my first vehicle in February of 2020, just before I turned 16. Kind of a rare bird way up here in Canada.
The gent who we picked it up from was planning on getting it on the road again, but lost interest. Before that it swapped hands a few times from folks with similar ideas.
One of the previous owners replaced the factory 225ci Dauntless V6 with a 75/76 Buick 231ci at some point, which is still odd-fire so it carries the unique sound of the original engine. This is paired up with the original Borg-Warner T86 transmission.
To get it running reliably we needed to put in a new fuel pump, and eventually we ended up rebuilding the carburetor, and going through the ignition system giving it new plugs, wires, and updating on the HEI distributor thats in it.
We are getting ready to start some body work soon, as it desperately needs it before it becomes more speed hole than car, where we will also be replacing the pop-riveted aluminium floors and fixing on the tailgate among other factree repairs. Then plans are to give it a rattle-can paint job and daily drive it until I have some more disposable income to pump into it.
Last picture is of a painting my darling mother did for me just after we bought it, and I figured it might be nice to include it.
