HEI Distributor

Build story

In February 2020 I was in my last semester of college at Penn Tech For Automotive Restoration. The previous owner was local to the school and he wanted to donate the truck to the program. The program couldn#039;t take it so he offered the truck up to any student who wanted it and I made sure to raise my hand first I tell you what. Sight unseen I acquired the truck for my favorite low, low price of Free.99 (Yes It was Free!!). All I Knew about it was that it was a 78 f350 Wrecker with a 460 and a 4 speed. getting the title sorted out I began tinkering with it on weekends and after classes. It didn#039;t run but it wasn#039;t stuck. after some poking around i found out that some mice had chewed the 3 wires going to the coil, hooked them back up and she ran like she was parked yesterday (Score!). Only had minimal brakes though but that was fine, I just sent it. Drove it to my friends house that was 45 miles away from where it sat in the grave. We replaced the radiator and all the brake likes and hoses. now braking was better but still not like it should be (Good enough for me though lmao). Next was the final journey home, 120 miles. Drive started out great until it took a turn for the worse... 90 miles from home the distributor started to fail and the truck wouldn#039;t go any faster than 45mph. Kept on going to try and make it home, and made it to 52 miles from home when the front right tire (pictured) exploded into oblivion. After accepting defeat, I called a tow truck to take her the rest of the way back. Threw a cheap HEI Distributor and wires in it she ran like brand new again, put some good tires on it, and a new Master Cylinder (MINT). Still working on it to make it better and not let it end up in the scrap heap!
