304 V8. I added a 4-barrel and dual exhaust (never offered on the 304)
5-speed transmission from a Mustang
3.73 Twin Grip rear end
1 1/8" Front Sway bar featuring custom brackets and a 3/4" rear bar help handling
Interior is a mixture of 1983 Spirit GT and 1977 Hornet AMX.
Features I've added were: tilt steering, leather-wrap steering wheel, AMX gauges & console, AMX door panels, 4-speaker stereo

If I really get ambitious, I've collected all the pieces I need to add power windows (never offered in a Hornet!) along with power locks and cruise control. Oh yeah, I also added factory Air Conditioning as well.

Build story

My college thesis car: What if AMC had kept making an AMX in 1975?

5-litre V8, 4 barrel, dual exhaust.
5-speed transmission, 3.73 gears.
Front and Rear Sway Bars
Power Front Disc Brakes
Bucket Seats
Classy Interior
Air Conditioning
Rear Window Louvers.

This car started life as a 304 V8 car (thankfully) but it had ZERO options. It had power steering, bucket seats and an AM radio. Everything else I added from pieces I've found scouring the internet or local junkyards. I was very lucky to find a Spirit GT because that's what gave me the disc brakes, tilt column, console, all the manual trans goodies and the big sway bars. The car was born an auto, was a 4-speed for a very short period of time and then became a 5-speed once I learned the Ford T5 is a basic bolt-in swap.

The car is an absolute HOOT to drive. Handling is tight but also very predictable. You can toss this thing around all day and it begs for more. Probably the favorite car I've ever built .... so much so that I actually sold it in 2006, only to buy it back in 2009!
