Build story

My project actually started last October after watching your Junkyard Digs videos on YouTube. Grinning I was like ok, didn’t think a rusted out Satellite would run but wow, yep they did it! Highly impressed with your work I went out on the webs and found a beat up 1991 Mustang that didn’t run and the owner wanted it gone. Seeing the going price on the foxbody cars I got a steal on this one and trailered it home. Almost immediately off the trailer I tried to fix some things and tried to get it running and I failed. Several hours later of trying I factored in that the mustang was done for so I parked it. About a month later it was again after watching your video on starting the tow trucks I was like ok if they can do it I can do it. Long story short and over the course of 6 months, I ended up almost re-wiring the entire engine bay, upgraded the charging system to the 3g alternator and a complete tune up as well as other things. Money is my enemy so I had to save for another couple of months and then I ended up sourcing an used eBay distributor with a new PIP and TFI module. After all the above was completed and installed I finally got the car to roar to life! In all the excitement I did a few test drives in the area and well that was short lived. The suspension was shot, car dies when stopping and it’s running decent but not so good. The other day I installed shocks and struts and it handles better. I did timing on it from 10 to 12, idle screw adjustment and throttle position adjustment. The cars now runs and as clapped out as the exterior is the 5.0 engine sound is heavenly. My only issue now is the car still shuts off when coming to a stop and I think it needs a new IAC. Ultimately my short term goal is to save money and buy some more engine components like an idle air control valve as well as a complete MSD ignition system. I want to drive to cars and coffee and other meets without the car dying all the time. Long term I want to keep the car and do a full restoration because the fox body cars are somewhat getting hard and expensive to find. Again money is tight so I can’t do to much but save when I can. For now I have it under a cover from the elements and whenever I can I still tinker with the car and it puts a smile on my face. In the mean time I will keep watching your videos, taking notes and learning. One of the best tricks I learned from watching you was the screwdriver in the plug wire deal to test spark. These older Ford ignition systems will drive one to insanity hence the reason I want to save for the MSD upgrade. Oh and tell Junkyard Mook I said hello from NC, still laughing about the booger scope. Lol. Thank you again

*side note: The wiring pictures I sent were from another owner. One of the many headaches I found with the car. Geesh
