ABOUT THE BUILD:
-Project was started in November 2020 -All work done by me in my brother’s barn with limited resources
Here is my 1996, 4x4, 302, Automatic, long box, single cab f150. This truck started its life as a local vehicle to the town of Saint Antoine, NB Canada, it was used likely to pull things around and for general use. It was later sold to another local company who primary used it as a shop truck, they redid the cab for sure around this point, and then it’s its final years as a plow truck, working a hard life to keep people on the road safe. One day 12 years ago it’s back broke, the frame let go right infront of the right rear spring perch, this ended its career and she was place in the weeds to die.
The new date is 2021, I have a friend of a friend who’s father is getting older and is looking to get to clean up his yard, they tell me there is an old ford that I might like.
Ok, I’ve had a few pre 97 fords so far ranging from a 93 f250 5.8L to an 85 6.9L diesel, I love these trucks.
Obviously I’m interested haha.
When I went to see the rig I went over it with a fine tooth comb, the motor was locked up, rad support rusted gone, box was in bad shape, front diff was blown etc, but the cab ...almost mint. When the truck was redone way back I guess the cab was the only thing they must have worked on, the rockers were in great shape, they only place that needed attention was a football sized hole in the drivers foot pan. EZ
I took the truck home and first gutted, stripped, and got rid of all the rusted parts, then I patched it’s floor, got a mint Texas 1994 2wd frame for it, sandblasted and painted it, layed the cab on-top. I then bought a rust free 82 box and placed that over the rear. She then needed a good heart so I bought a none running 84 460 parts truck, it’s all I had the budget for, got it running, put its heart and transmission into my frame, perfect. I then had to make my own custom pedal linkage from the guts of 3 different trucks to make one good standard assembly, had to fab my own housings to hold it all together.
Next was the front end, I sandblasted and redid most of the bottom passenger corner of my donor rad support and placed it in, I bought some new fenders for her since I had none on hand, and then used a lot of other parts from other trucks to make its front end complete.
Next mods were long tube headers then to 3.5" true dual exhaust from the front to the back mated to some home made, boom tube inspired, exhaust tips. It’s gonna sound awesome when it’s done!
Here is a current list as of March 13th, 2021 of all the different trucks that gave their lives in order to make this one live again.
-1994 f150 -1987 f150 -1984 f350 -1981 f150 -1982 f150
So far as it stands this project is not complete but is near completion, as of March 13th, 2021 it still needs the following.
-brakes all around -fuel lines -exhaust completed -cab put back together -engine tuned
I work full time 50 hours a week plus then it’s a couple hours a night and almost full weekends on deck working on her but I’m starting to see the fruits of my labor.
They truck is now roughly a 1984 f150 460ci, 4 speed t19, 8 foot bed rig.
The aim is to drive it this summer, I can’t wait.
Thanks for showing interest in one off my current projects.
