It was an 1994 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2 wheel drive with a 4 cylinder engine with a good body. I found a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a 4.0 l but a rotten body. I removed all the 4 cylinder stuff and front and rear axles as well as complete drive train with wiring harness. I then replaced it all with the parts from the donor Cherokee.
Build story
I had a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a 4.0l and a AX15 5 speed manual trans 4x4. The body was completely rotten and not safe to operate but it ran decent. I found a 1994 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a 2.5l 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive. The body was in great shape but the engine had a large hole in the side of the block. I removed the drive trains and wiring harnesses from both vehicles and put the parts from the 1996 XJ into the 1994 XJ. Swapped axles and wiring harnesses. After some minor tweeking and custom bumpers and rock sliders, things are coming together. I have aluminum diamond plate door panels that I cut from some panels that were at one time used in a elevator floor. Upcycle, recycle ?? I have done all the work on this and drive it daily. Next is floor pans and maybe upgrades to drive train.
