Build story
I have always wanted a turbocharged Nissan. When the opportunity presented itself however, I also had to consider some realities. Skyline GTRs which had a few short years earlier been easily attainable had now skyrocketed in price. Pulsar GTi-Rs were also in this basket, as well as impractical for family hauling.
So what about the Stagea?
The what?
The Unicorn - GTR underneath, unassuming wagon on top.
Here you see my 2002 nm35 250T RS4V Stagea. ATTESA AWD. R200 diffs front and rear. VQ25DET with more power and more torque than an RB26DETT. Comfortable family hauling based upon Nissans Front Midship platform.
Many parts are shared with the 350Z, Maxima, G35X and other similar era Nissans making upgrades plentiful. Mine is a work in progress, being daily driven and slowly upgraded over time. I have owned it since November 2017; I have done plenty of maintenance to bring it back to a roadworthy standard (theres an extensive list below) in that time along with the upgrades listed above, out of my garage with the help of some mates and plenty of beers.
Both the front bar and rear tailgate, plus the rear wing I have rubbed back, primed and sprayed (2pac) the original Nissan KH3 black to repair poor paintwork, with the rest of the car being original paint. I am aiming for an OEM+ type fast street car build; tuner, but subtle; with enough power and torque to effortlessly walk past anything on the road.
It definately suprises people, most think its a volvo estate. Will launch off the line and monster most anything on the road outside modern German super saloons. With all of the weight between the axles it has a nearly perfect 49:51 weight distribution and handles accordingly. Throw it at a corner and stomp on the power - the arse will step out.. keep the foot down, point and shoot, letting the AWD system pull you away startlingly quickly.
Can carry a family of five, a large dog and everyones luggage on roadtrips in comfort, or take it to the dragstrip or time attack course for some fun!
What is there not to love?!
