Build story

Alright listen: The mods are mostly cosmetic (now) but hear me out why and what's the story behind the car.
I'm 22 years old and from germany, I ALWAYS wanted a '79 Camaro, didn't really care what flavor (Berlinetta, SS, Z28 etc...)
So back in 2019 on my birthday my dad showed me this car on the interwebs and my dad has a lot of history with old sports- and racecars. So no wonder I began doing the same thing from when I was 5 years old.
I didn't have the money at that point but one way or the other: I became it's owner. The picture where it is matte black is the condition when I bought it: No drivetrain, half of the interior missing and many small pieces not there and it has been sitting for more than 20 years.
Normally everyone would say: GUT IT OUT FOR PARTS!
But I just couldn't for three reasons.
1. I just can't gut out cars, it is against my nature, they are part of history and deserve to be preserved.
2. Here in germany the rules on what mods are streetlegal are VERY STRICT. BUT back in the day when this was brandnew they weren't! So if a car has a mod legally written in the title because it was legal back in the day it is still legal today! And this specific car has like ALL OF THEM. The flares, the hood, the ducktail, the rims- even the sidemarkers are legal for this car which is normally a big nono here.
3. Due to the history of my dad he has a lot of parts so it wasn't really a problem getting a drivetrain and most of the small pieces, getting the Camaro specific parts like interior took a while but eventually I got them all.

Okay back to the story: At first I had no idea on how to build it but then I came across this 1970/1971 Z28 that you can also see in the pictures, and that was my inspiration because it also has the flares, the ducktail and this neat paintjob with the patina.
So I spent the next two years putting in a 350 with a TH350, actually building parts, buying interior pieces and stealing stuff from my dad (not really ofc).
The thing is and I'm not sure if you also had this before but: It was like destiny.
Sounds weird I know but hear me out: In this giant junkpile that my dad has like 95,47% of the parts that I needed were there-BUT ONLY ONCE! To think that my dad hoarding these parts for over 30 years only for me to find the exact car that needs all those parts just makes me feel like it's meant to be. I hope you can understand what I mean due to the language barrier.

So why does my car look like it fell into a childrens sticker album?
Tbh: It's the exact same reason as to what I just said. every sticker was hoarded for a very long time and if you look closely and if I did my research correctly I only put stickers onfrom companies that already existed in the time the car was build. And the plan was (due to my pathetic income) to slowly modify it in a way that from every company that has a sticker on there, there is something in the car so it wouldn't be a blender.

UNFORTUNATLY I fell victim to the famous dutch driving. You see I live very close to the dutch border and if you didn't know: dutch people can't drive. Seriously.
So while doing 50MpH I kissed a dutch driver and his Nissan whatever.
Lucky for me: the chassis isn't bent so I can rebuild it and I'm already doing it if you can tell from the picture with the frame and firewall.

Getting parts for american cars here in germany is way harder than it seems, especially if you don't have much money like me so it all might be different on what you are normally used to see in the US. Anyway, I hope you have fun reading it and you may like the car. I just hope you have fun and if this event repeats in the next year you'll see me again with a (hopefully) completed build that will look very different from what you see but also the same - let yourself be surprised^^
I would tick the ''Can we drive it'' box but well... Dunno how you want to get to germany during a pandemic and the other reason is quite self explaining.

ALSO ROAST ME

and maybe show it to VGG, I'm a huge fan and would like to know what he thinks even though he isn't a judge for this category.

ALSOALSO if you take a look at the air filter: this is unfinished work, the twin turbo hood has air inlets and the air filter housing was just the first parts. I couldn't finish the hoses and stuff that connects to the housing before the accident but just wanted to point it out.
And if you have any suggestions from yourself of what would suit the car then just tell me!
