I kid who went to my high school back in 1986 got this car, started to fix it up then sold it. A guy my brother knew had it from then until 2019 and mentioned he would sell. I hadn’t seen the car since it was in primer in 87. But the price was in my range so my father and I went to have a look. Told dad the garage door will open and it’s another project I don’t have time for or , I’ll look at you and say “we gotta make a trip to the bank”. We went to the bank. The car was professionally painted and had lots of cool stuff like a built 350, Muncie 4 speed , posi, original 14 inch rally wheels. Guy hadn’t licensed the car in 8 years. Tank was so full of crud I got tired of changing filters every tank of gas so just changed out the tank completely, used a cheap Chinese in line fuel pump, new sway bar bushings, distributor, adjusted the valves, new front shocks. Back seat had a huge hole cut in it so I cut a dark blue panel- close enough to black - from a 70 T bird rear seat and duct taped it on. And headed for home- 500 miles. 40 miles in the head liner released itself from captivity- cut it off with scissors and kept
Going. Car looks amazing but the hole for the shifter when it was changed to a manual looks like it was chewed out by a beaver . Left front fender is banged up from where the tire came
Off - didn’t knock much paint off so- instant character. This car is proof they don’t have to be perfect to be head turners and even if it was perfect I would have had to Rob that bank to afford it and would be afraid to drive it. This is no trailer queen, but it’s mine and I love it.
