Build story

I started of with a truck 2wd 1979 ford f150 custom that was sitting in my boss/step dad or the guy thats been there for me the most and ive known sice i was 3, he gave me the truck and a brand new 400m that was trebuilt for a 85 ford f250 along with 2 transmissons one out of a junkyard truck (c-6) that was burnt and was (said) to work fine so ended up using it to see if it was any good it came along with the np 208f transfercase, got the truck out of resting spot out from under a tent and started looking and seeing what i had to do or modify to make it work bec it had a blown up 302 factory that was already tooken out when it got parked 10+ years ago im only 15 years old at this point and have no job and only way of bringing in money was side jobs i would try to get everywere as i possible could in my meantime i would go over to his house and work on it with him and he would help me out sometime as long as i pay him back witch i always did in a resable amout of time. but anyways i wantyed to later on when i got money and more recorses convert it to 4wd and it would be easy if i alr had the 4wd drive train alread in the truck and would only need a driveshat and front axle witch now i do have (danna 44 high pinion out of a 80s model truck) but since i didnt have moeny to buy the lift i wanted and just wanted to get it going for now i wanted to leave the twin i beam it came factory with in it with the 9 inch in the rear, all in all i got the engine painted bought high tenteion valve springs bec 400m our known to hit the valves on the pistons at high rpm other than that i took the origal motorcaft 2 barrel off the 400m and (Jon the guy thats helping me and givin me the truck) found a 2 to 4 barrel adaptor to put on it, but before we decided to do that we took the moter mouts and welded them solid along with the transsion one, sat the engine in were the 302 sat and was perfetly lined with the bolt holes for the engine but for the 2wd crossmeber it was flat so we spaced it dow about an inch and a half and it lined up pefectly with the crossmeber bolt holes, i had a custom drive shaft made found a old tranning cooler laying around got the radior jon found out of a bus that fit perfectly in it and we prayed the feul take wasnt rotted or the lines were clogged witch they wernt and we got it in i bought a hei distibuter coil and wires , and saved jons brother was kind enough to buy me shorty headers bec long tubes wont fit with my 2wd steering box thats behind the twin i beam, and i ran flex pipe off the collectors out the side for about a mounth before i could get it legel and myself legel to drive so when i did get a job i would have a relibe truck, so afer i got all that done and we got it to fire up i needed to know if the transmission worked so we got it out with no hood keep in mind and were drviing it around in the feild and i got it up to 25 miles and hour prolly 2nd gear before there was a eprupt amount of flames comming out of the hood and the truck was still running with jon in the passenger and about 1/8 of a mile down was a creek so i try and make it there and it stalls get out were about 60 feet from it i grab a try that had bolts in it and dump them out in the seat and run and try and get water while jon is trying to put it out with his shirt i run back with no water in the pan pretty much so i stoped doing that and got my shirt off and was trying to put it out ( the feul line poped off this small atv feul filter we had on it and the cheasy clamps i was using proably didnt help either so with the mecanical feul pump it pumped gas all over the engine till it died it cought the distibuter cap on fire that i still have and burnt the brand new air filter i had and all the spark plug wires with the coil i bought, we got it out and we were lucky it wasnt worse but went home gathered some money in about a month later had everything to fix it and got it going again drove it to his brothers house to test it one time did good and i did it one other time about a week later and the transsion gave out, i brought it up to jons again and we still had the other transsion that he new worked that came with the 400m when he first got it but it was used so i got a new converter for it and stuck it in, in one day and to my luck it worked and rworked awsome going from 1st to 2nd but slips just a little bit going into third but once it in third its fine, so once i got all the bugs worked out and it ran and drove nicely still without a tag or insurance that i was saving up on i was following jons brother home once again going over there and blew one of the old dry rotted tires doing 65 saved it from going into the ditch it blew my driver rear bed all to hell and blew my gas cap gone, luckly his bother was in the other truck an we slowly leaped it back to jons, and jons brother felt bad enough to buy me all four new tires rated for 114 as long as i paid him back, 470 bucks later i had good tires and about a mounth after that i was 16 and got my permit stupid of me i though i could just get my license at 16 but no u gotta have ur permet for a year so i got screwed on that but got the truck legel under my moms name and insurance and now i have a job i used it to go back and forth only 4 miles everyday, but with 6mpg its really expensive but i delt with it untill one night comming home from jons my transfercase blew up or when i pulled it apart it overheated and melted the plasic in it and on the fork cuasing it to pop out of gear so now thats were im at and thats my build and i prolly missed alot of details but thats the gist of it.
