Build story

I really wanted a RWD classic to daily drive and do club racing events in. My oldschool beetle didn't have a locking diff and fitting one was too expensive. So I sold it and went looking for something old, cool and easy to throw an LSD in. After checking out a few options, I came across this Datsun 510. A previous owner had made it Nana-spec with an auto-swap. It had been off the road for at least 20 years. Over about a year and during COVID, I put it back together in my garage. The previous owner told me the motor was seized but I got it running, manual swapped it and got it ready for street rego and club events again. Most things mechanical have been replaced or rebuilt, mostly from second hand parts or cheap off-casts from friends. Some rust had to be fixed and the paint is super thin, so I've just waxed it and driven it. The car has been dynoed at (wait for it) 67rwhp. It's a mish-mash of all sorts of bits, but a good old girl and people like it. Future plans include a race motor, some EFI and boost. I might even fit a stereo. Whatever happens, it will remain a street car that used and abused as a daily. My kids drive it in club events and it gets a regular flogging. Thanks Nana!
