Cut down a long box to make it a shorty, built a 12 bolt truck rear with a 3.73 posi unit, added front and rear sway bars plus performance shocks. rebuilt a 700r4 trans with a good old 350 rebuilt to motivate her down the road. Gas tank relocated into the rear of the frame using a suburban tank with the filler neck relocated to the drivers side. 60/40 split bench inside with kilmat and a retrosound radio playing through speakers that are custom mounted.
Build story
The truck was a basket case in 1995 purchased for $350 at the Chickasha swap meet by my best friend and his dad (they were planning a low ride performance build). the truck had serious problems like a 4BT in the cab and major body damage plus plenty of small dents. They got the truck back to Belton Mo. and began the work of putting this abused truck back into working order. Unfortunately by 2000 the project had lost all momentum and was partially robbed of parts then pieces were set outside, upstairs in the loft and piled into the truck bed. Every time I went to visit my buddy tried to get me to buy the truck but his dad wanted too much for it! I finally got a real price for all the truck parts and purchased the pile in 2014 I called in a couple of favors and a couple of us loosely bolted the truck together and made the trip back to Oklahoma where I began to work at a fever pitch to finish the truck. Like other builds this one wavered and after cutting the frame, doing all the body work and painting the cab and front sheet metal I also lost motivation/funds to finish. I have restored and finished many cars for others and while working on a 1948 Chevy car I decided that the truck would be on the road in 2020. I began ordering parts and writing lists of thing needing to be finished so that I could tackle the last projects on the project truck, COVID gave me some extra time and the desire to start making You Tube videos, each project has been a video which has made the process easier to motivate through. The truck is still not done, but I am driving it and enjoying the "going to town rig" before I tear into installing the serpentine setup robbed from a salvaged chevy truck so I can mount and A/C compressor.
