Build story

This 1965 Plymouth Barracuda is a Father and Daughter project. My daughter Maddy named this car Lauren. Why call a car Lauren? well its written on the dash. We found this project on Facebook market place. $1000 for 2 65 Barracudas and a bunch of parts. We cherry picked the parts. Sold off the remainder stuff and other car. This gave us a good roller for about $350. So then we patched some holes in the floor. Not show car but black bed liner paint hides everything. When looking for a drive train we had a bit of luck. While posting progress pictures on FB one of my racing friends reached out and said he had a 360 for us. Bud being a diehard Chevy guy just wanted it gone. We got to cleaning it up to find a decent bottom end. We added a set of stock rebuilt heads and air gap intake from my stash. I hit a couple FB groups and Abody forums page to find out all the tricks to get the small block stuck in. Fab up some hard to find motor mount brackets and finding the early Abody exhaust manifolds finished up the engine. A FB purchased 904 has been attached to the 360. We dropped the engine and trans in. Added a couple items like a AFB carb and she fired to life. Sounding a old farm truck but its alive. Again luck found us a driveshaft, another FB marketplace purchase. Maddy and I finally got to take Lauren for a ride and its first burnout. With the car running and driving now whats the next step? Currently we are adding a 8 3/4 rear with 3.91 gears. Super Stock leaf springs. Converting the single pot master cylinder for a dual. Adding some TTI exhaust. This project has taken a small turn. While I was getting my bracket car ready to race this year I found a couple issues with it. So Lauren is now being ready to do track duty this year. It should be interesting since she hasn’t been over 35mph in 25 years
Update 5/4/2021 We have made some changes. Added new American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels. 15x4 and 15x8. Wrapped them with Mickey Thompson Tires. Ached the rear wheels wells. New driveshaft from FastShafts Inc, Ditched the AFB Carb for a Edlebrock. Made a couple passes at the track last Sunday. We still have alot of work to do. Look for more up dates soon.
