Build story

So I wanted a Diesel truck. I grew up with Dodge Cummins Trucks on the farm and they were great trucks to use and drive, but the cost of a First Gen that was in as good a shape as this truck was going to cost. After looking into the Ford IDI diesels, reliability, durability, cost, uniqueness, I figured these as a close second. So after seeing this truck from the road and knocking on the door, it turned out to be exactly what I wanted and I picked it up very reasonably and started working on it.
6.9 IDI, T19 Manual, DANA 70 Rear, DANA 60 Front, Courtney Berg Hydra Dec, Working Cruise Control.
It had been a chore truck for a farm and had a DewEze bale deck on it. They had upgraded trucks and retired this one but they didn’t remove the hydraulic pump. So with that in mind I contacted a neighbor of mine who had a different bale deck that had been in a fire and was sitting derelict. I went to work replacing cylinders, hoses, the oil tank, spool controls, wiring and the lights. Along the way I did a Solid Axle Swap with a DANA 60 out of a 1993 F350 and newer springs. No more bad tire wear and now it rides a whole lot better. Built a proper deer catcher with the grill guard out of heavy grader blade and mounted a light bar. I sourced a nice set of blue seats and console from an 1985 F150 which fit really well. The cluster lacked a factory tachometer so I was able to find one on eBay that runs off of a signal from the alternator. Works flawlessly and is quite accurate. I took the old mirrors and carefully reinstalled good glass with a heat element stuck on the back sides so that I have frost free mirrors now. I installed a delay relay timer in the dash that is set for 10 seconds so when I trigger the switch it will run the glow plugs by its self instead of using the button all of the time. Recently installed an LMI Welding HI Rider rear seat riser for better sitting and storage underneath. I have figured out a way to put Blue Tooth into a certain style of ford radio and it works quite well but I’m have issues with a bad internal signal at higher volume. I took the old cassette player out and hijacked the input for the BT receiver.
Future plans for the truck are a rebuilt engine with head studs, turbo, bigger injection pump, bigger injectors, and intercooler paired to a ZF 5 speed transmission that I have transplanted gearing out of a gas truck trans in to a diesel case for a wide ratio towing transmission.
I plan on running this truck for many many years to come
