Had to replace air cleaner due to parts unavailability. The “famous” security coded radio was all locked up so also had to replace with an aftermarket unit. Otherwise this unique cruiser is bone stock.
Build story
The children of the original owner said the water pump started leaking and they couldn’t find a replacement back in 1999. It was then parked in a barn until 2019. After the passing of the original owner, the children just wanted it gone. $100 later we dragged it to my brother’s garage. Hours of cleanup, new fluids, a battery and eventually a new fuel injection computer, and I drove it 250 miles without issues, other than the minor coolant leak from the water pump. It took months to get a new one from Australia which had to be modified to work with the US style fan clutch. Also had to dismantle and re-clock a right hand drive brake booster to stop the hissing. Since then we’ve made three very comfortable road trips over 1200 miles each. Car has slightly more than 100,000 miles on the odometer and all the 80’s comfort features work well. This is my favorite road car ever. This French survivor is more comfortable and more reliable than its German cousins, albeit a touch slower!
