Build story
My father purchased this truck in 1980 and swapped out the 351 for the diesel later that year. When ford build the 6000 tractor in the 1960's they based the engine block off of the 223 gas automotive engine. This makes the swap very easy and like factory. The automotive oil pan bolts right in place of the cast structual pan that the tractor had. The gas engine manifolds also bolt on too which is almost necessary because the tractor had an upward exhaust and downward positioned intake. The 6volt 223 gas engine starter was used on the trucks 12v systen. It cranks the diesel effortlessly like that and hasnt failed after 40years of use. Even with a good thermostat the diesel does not make much heat so it has never needed a fan. When i turned 16 i inherited this truck. It has never been driven in winter so it is pretty much rust free. Many many miles have been put on in throughout the U.S. and Canada on family road trips.
