Flatbed build from a trailer. Brown&lipe over/under.

Build story

The truck is a rare 1950 gmc 750 diesel. One of 4000 produced that year. The 750 series trucks had a single rear axle and a low block 4-71 detroit diesel rated at 118 hp. I bought this truck from a gentleman who used it to haul a John Deere 450 dozer on the back for landscaping jobs.
The motor is a 4-71 detroit diesel, rated at 118 hp and 435ft/lbs. The main transmission is a spicer 5 speed od. The aux box is a brown-lipe 3 speed from a White. Rearend is an eaton 2 speed.
Total foreward gears is 30, with 6 in reverse.
Its only got service brakes. No spring brakes.
It sat in a blackberry bush for 18 years when i bought it, and we had it fired up in 20 min. It held air and came up to temp, so after some discussion, i decided to drive it 40 miles home. With the double overdrives, the truck runs 60mph at 1900 rpm. Its a great old smokey noisemaker.
