Bought her 2 years old, 24 years ago
She’s been all through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming.
Head gasket blew at 289,000 miles
Rebuilding the engine.
Almost there
Pulled the cams back off to double check all the valve shims, following having the head machined. Glad I did, many shims were wrong.
Shims reset. Cams back in. Cam/crank timing verified.
She’s ready to go back in!
The engine hoist can only get the engine so high with the leveler dropping the engine about a foot, so the front wheels had to come off to drop the front end as low as possible - then it was a process of moving the engine in and raising the front end back up, inches at a time.
I didn't want to remove the radiator and have to drain the transmission. So I knew it would be a slow dance to get it into the engine bay.
My only help was from a couple of turkeys

Build story

It’s really a “stock” project car, trying to avoid mods for mods sake.
