Build story

Bought when i was 17 years old. Thought i was getting the deal of a lifetime and would never find one so cheap again...... Apparently had no clue what i was talking about. As I bought the base model, FWD, factory non-turbo one. Only thing that could have been worse is, if it was an auto-tragic. Was primer grey, had a blown head gasket, And a quarter panel with inches of bondo in it lol (unknown at the time). Got it home, fixed the head gasket, Drove all tru high school. Used a family members body shop, for a quick and dirty respray. (still had inches of bondo in the quarter panel). Blew it up again at the end of high school. Rebuilt the motor and installed NA cams and High Comp pistons. running on the factory ecu that can't be tuned with some sensor fooling. Fixed it before leaving for an automotive trade school, at which time the bondo finally cracked and fell out a large chunk. In anger i attacked it with a wire wheel, made it look way worse then left for college. Drove it all through college with a pass rear quarter that looked awful, a high revving NA motor that didn't make as much power as i thought it did lol. And with an obnoxious exhaust of course. Graduated trade school in about 2 yrs and came back home to Maine. Started working at a car dealer. In the meantime since graduating, had outfitted the car with a wet NOS kit. Started out small, but of course got more and more greedy over time. Finally a 150 shot on a High comp 4 cyl with no real tuning capability, bent #4 rod just very slightly. Just enough for the counter weights on the crank to remove the piston skirt by force. Engine down again, and body looking like crap. Now having a much better understanding of what I'm doing And the car being worthless. I did what any sensible gear head would do and sold the car.... HA NO, i decided to totally modify/restore the car. Stripped everything down to the shell. Got my uncle to help with body and paint. Looks amazing to me. Love the looks of these cars and got flashy but tasteful in my opinion. Got it back home and tore out all suspension, interior, motor, trans, wiring. fixed rust, coated the underside, Cleaned and painted everything. Adapted 3rd gen suspension parts in the 2nd gen body. Full coil overs, Brake upgrades, steering parts. Then did the interior, New seats, new upholstery, Sound system, Aftermarket gauges, (Im a sucker for data). Then came the motor build. This time i did it mostly right, Full forged bottom end, fully studded everything, Low comp pistons, Turbo cams, Ported Head, Megasquirt III ecu, made my own harness. Got a Neon trans, rebuilt it and installed an LSD. Got plans from a forum and made an Equal Length Driveshaft setup. Cheap ebay turbo manifold and intercooler. The Works. Since then Ive broken a few transmissions, 4 to be exact. Think i got that sorted for now though. I've changed a few things on the car, Better turbo manifold and turbo, Better intercooler, Custom made exhaust. And a few other things. For pics tru the cars life see link. Doesn't have any from high school days tho. Pics on This thread are just a couple of the current version of the car. https://photos.app.goo.gl/JHZedFESN1kJtCZA7
