The day We got home - notice the pontiac wheels? Car was being used as a race car.
After removing the "pontiac race" suspension
I had done floor pans in another mustnag, and swore if I ever did it again, i'd just get a one-piece and do it right. all rust cut out,
new firewall
new lower cowl
new floor
getting ready for a "frame" jig, the entire front clip has to be rebuilt
"frame" jig
It's a body
back on ford suspension
new dash
redneck rotisserie to weld the bottom
dynamat
hang the doors, drivetrain from a '89 fox mustang
start working on first round of panel gaps and the grill
rear trim - taillight panel needed lots of love too, still imperfect
Get the interior in (round 1), let's get it "driveable" and improve as we go
door rebuilt, needed lots of hardware
more dynamat
sort of how it sits today, sans hood.

Mods

5.0 and 5-speed drivetrain from '89 mustang

Build story

I've had this fastback about 5 years. when i bought it, it was headed to be a parts car (get the roof cut off for a coupe -> fastback conversion). The current goal is to get it "running and driving" and then enjoy during the summers and improve during the winters. The car was being used as a race car, the whole front clip was gone, and a Pontiac F-Body(?) front subframe was just welded to the "firewall". There was a terribly installed 4-link suspension in the rear, the "side skirts" were 1/8" flat bar welded and bondo'd all the way down the side. It's not perfect, but I feel like I have certainly rescued this car. Last fall the car "drove" around the block for the first time. It's in desperate need of exhaust, and an alignment, and then it will be "driveable".

Wiring is mostly done, only plumbing left is the heater core.

Future plans: vintage air A/C, Performance Suspension, and Rack & Pinion conversion.
